Information on the emergency service during the 2024/2025 public holidays
The University Animal Hospital will operate in emergency mode on the following days and will only be available for emergencies:
Tuesday, December 24, 2024 from 12:00 noon up to and including Thursday, December 26, 2024
Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 3 pm up to and including Thursday, January 2, 2025
On the weekend, December 28 and 29, 2024 you can also contact the emergency service.
We will be available for regular appointment scheduling and other services on December 27 and 30, 2024 and again from Friday, January 3, 2025.

- Small animals; zoo animals, pets and wild animals: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Farm animals: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Equines: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Visiting hours for small animals
Only after consultation with the treating veterinarians.
Monday to Friday: 6 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. (including on public holidays)
Unfortunately, visits are not possible at weekends due to the high volume of patients. For organisational reasons, visits are limited to 30 minutes per day (10 minutes per day for intensive care patients to ensure monitoring). Thank you for your understanding.
Visiting hours fo equines
Monday to Friday: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. | 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Exceptions can only be made in consultation with the treating veterinarians.

- Grundsätzlich steht unser Angebot allen Halter:innen von Tieren aus folgenden Kategorien offen: Kleintiere (Hunde und Katzen), Pferde, Nutztiere, sowie Nager, Vögel und Reptilien.
- Unser Angebot richtet sich sowohl an Tierhalter:innen, die von einem Tierarzt zu uns überwiesen wurden, als auch an solche, die keine Überweisung haben.
- Mit unserem Notfalldienst ergänzen wir ausserdem das Angebot von Tierärzt:innen und Kliniken ohne Notfalldienst zu Randzeiten und mit unserer Intensivmedizin.
- Our services are available to all owners of animals in the following categories: small animals (dogs and cats), horses, farm animals, rodents, birds and reptiles.
- We offer our services to pet owners both with and without a referral.
- Our emergency service complements the services from veterinarians and clinics that do not offer out-of-hours emergency services and provides intensive care medicine.

Please note that appointments must be rescheduled or cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will still be charged.
To give you an idea of the cost of treatment at our Animal Hospital, we have provided an overview on the treatment prices page. Please note that this price list only shows the cost of individual services; it does not include care, advice or services such as anaesthesia.
Please also note that you will need to settle the bill for treatment while at the Animal Hospital (payment can be made by card, TWINT or cash – we accept Swiss francs only).
Small and large animal receptions
Please note that the reception for small animals (dogs, cats, rodents, birds and reptiles) is in a different location to the reception for large animals (horses and farm animals). A map on which the car parks are also marked can be found on our emergency page.
There is a car park for vehicles with trailers by the large animal reception. The reception team will be happy to help you make an appointment.
Outside office hours (7.30 a.m. – 5 p.m.), please use the phone at the large animal reception for registration.
