If an inpatient stay is necessary, you are welcome to visit your pet after consultation with the attending veterinarians.
Monday to Friday, 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. (including on public holidays)
Unfortunately, visits are not possible at weekends due to the high volume of patients. For organisational reasons, visits are limited to 30 minutes/day (10 minutes/day for intensive care patients to ensure monitoring).
Has your cat or another pet gone missing? Find out how the University Animal Hospital deals with animals that have been found:
Injured or sick pets are usually brought in by members of the public or the animal rescue service.
If necessary, we stabilise these animals immediately and try to find their owner(s) in order to discuss the next steps and any necessary treatment.
If the owners cannot be traced because the animals are not chipped and registered, the University Animal Hospital is still obliged to examine them and stabilise them in an emergency.
Animals whose owners cannot be identified are registered by us as quickly as possible with the Swiss Animal Registration Centre STMZ. This often enables owners and their pets to be reunited.
If your pet has gonemissing, you can also call us at any time to find out whether it has been admitted to us.
The costs for medically necessary measures for the acute care of animals are to be borne by the animal owners as part of their responsibility to look after their animals’ welfare. They are to be paid when the animals are collected.
Would you like to support us?

Your donation will help us to continue to provide first-class medical care.
There is a huge selection of dogs on the internet. What most people don’t realise though is that behind many of the online offers and cute puppy photos are unlicensed breeders/sellers and a great deal of animal suffering.
